It is finally the time of year when the weather gets warmer and college students are getting ready to go on spring break.
After midterms, students are eager to travel somewhere warm and start partying.
I want to create a story about things you can do, spring break essentials, and my experiences on vacation.
Whether you are staying home or traveling to a warm sunny destination there are so many things you can do.
First off–RELAX. I know many students are struggling with midterms, projects, etc.
Some great ways to relieve stress include doing a face mask, painting your nails, binge-watching your favorite show, going for a walk, hanging out with friends.
If you are on vacation, go to the beach, eat some seafood, visit a club, ride bicycles, explore an aquarium, go on a boat ride, or eat lots of fruit (Florida has the best tangerines).
One of my favorite places to shop before spring break is Shein.
They have really affordable clothing that is good quality. You can buy bathing suits for under $10.
Shein is perfect if you want to explore your style and try something different.
Since the prices are so low, if you don’t like something, you can either return it or give it to a friend.
The website constantly has sales, coupons, and games where you can win more coupons or even free clothing.
Let’s say for example you’re in the ocean and your necklace falls off but you didn’t even know until you got back to your hotel or Airbnb.
You can let out a sigh of relief when you realize it was just a $2 necklace that you bought on Shein.
Not to mention, you can buy literally anything off of Shein–I find myself scrolling through the website for long periods of time looking at things I don’t need but could buy.
Let’s get into some spring break essentials.
Obviously, you’ll need bikinis, sunglasses, and a towel for the beach.
Once again, Shein is great for all of these. Bikinis and towels are around $10 or less and sunglasses are typically under $5–perfect for someone who is always losing, scratching, or breaking sunglasses.
Having a reliable beach bag is also very important to hold your drinks, tanning lotion, speaker, etc.
I recommend bringing a cooler as well. I have the Igloo MaxCold Duo Cool Fusion 36 Rolling Cooler – Rose Quartz and I love it.
It’s reliable, affordable, a great size and has wheels.
I also love bringing a metal koozie to keep cans cold.
If you are going somewhere warm, obviously bring a lot of tank tops, T-shirts, shorts and high quality shoes.
Last year, I went on spring break with three of my best friends and we have so many stories.
Since we are all broke college students we did not want to spend $400 on airplane tickets–so we had the bright idea to drive.
From New York to Florida, it’s about 20 hours without stopping. On the bright side, we only spent a fraction of the airplane ticket on gas.
We drove straight through, and it really wasn’t that bad.
Well, we were filling up at a sketchy gas station in Georgia at about 4 in the morning. My friend looked at the ground and saw a ton of cockroaches running around–we all screamed.
I don’t remember much of the ride there, but I was awake the entire time. I tried everything to fall asleep and I just couldn’t.
The best thing that we did for this trip was creating a shared note to write down all the funny things we said.
You end up with so many inside jokes, and we still quote things from that trip a year later.
We stayed at my friends familys house in their gated community. It was gorgeous–everyone’s main mode of transportation was golfcarts, a country club with the most delicious food I’ve ever had, and multiple pools.
My friends and I went to the beach every day, bouncing between Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Springs Beach.
The first day, we arrived at Fort Myers beach around 9a.m. and wanted breakfast. We came across this cute bar/restaurant on the beach.
After eating, we walked around and stumbled upon a shrimp festival.
All of the bars were open, vendors selling their crafts, live bands were playing and people were dancing.
On our other days, we went shopping, got ice cream, and explored the surrounding towns.
Since we were near Florida Gulf Coast University, we also checked out some of the clubs near campus and made some new friends.
On our drive home I decided that we should stop at a Buc-ees.
If you don’t know what a Buc-ee’s is, it is basically a Walmart-sized gas station. Some locations have over 100 pumps.
Buc-ees sells anything you can think of. From bikinis with Buc-ee the Beaver, to pulled pork sandwiches made by men dressed in cowboy outfits, to southern kitchen decor, you can find literally anything.
Overall, this trip made all of us become closer than we already were. With inside jokes and unforgettable memories, it was a spring break we’ll never forget.
